My Dad was gracious enough to take my video camera and film the wedding ceremony. We'll also be getting a "professional" video at some point. We'll see which one is better.

I did some minor editing to the video my dad took and uploaded it to You Tube for anyone that wants to view it. It is available in HD so click on the HD button to view the high-res form of the video.

Dec. 4th, 2007 @ 10:18 am Heavy Duty Shipping Boxes?
About this Entry

Anyone know where I can get some heave duty shipping boxes?

I want to put an old set of speakers and an old receiver up on ebay, but these things are heavier than the shipping boxes you typically find will handle...

So, where can you get heavy duty boxes without paying too terribly much. I haven't checed at say the ups store yet, but they usually rake you over the barrel for shipping supplies.

Not sure if any of you other fellow Wii owners out there have heard or even have had any problems propelling your Wiimotes at random objects in the room; but Nintendo has made these little Wiimote jackets to further help the situation. Personally I have never had a problem but there are reasons we have coffee cups that say "CAUTION: contents may be hot".

But... if you want your free Wiimote jackets you can go to this website and request them:

I tried (because why not) but I got a 404 error :-)

Down to 19 unopened bottles of diet coke from my birthday present. There were 55 bottles and now there are only 19. At the time I already had 10 on hand... Thats something close to 3 a week on average.

Last night I started cleaning up my home office. I haven't actually gone through all of this stuff in years and it has been bugging me ever since I moved into the house but I never seem to find the time to actually clean it up... I just leave the room and use the laptop so I don't have to look at it.

Anyways, I went through the massive assortment of cables and ended up getting rid of most of them. I probably spent thousands of dollars on the assortment over the course of time, but sadly they are all obsolete now. Mostly SCSI cables... but alot of "spares". How many spare IDE cables do you really need? :-) How many 80mm case fans does one really need to have on hand? Not to mention all of the old KVM cables that have been piling up for the last 10 years...

Alas it is all gone now. Time to fill the void with something new :-)

While thinking about stuff to get rid of, I also have two wooden (aka pressed particle board with an oak veneer) -drawer (letter size) file cabinets that I need to get rid of. I got a new lateral file cabinet when I bought the house nearly three years ago and these have just been sitting in the closet ever since.

Again, first person or persons to come get them can have them.

This weekend was the most productive two days I have had in quite some time and a heck of a lot more productive than I ever feel at work.

I got the garage all finished finally and it looks better than it ever has though that endeavor wasn't cheap. Counting everything, I think I spent somewhere close to $2k on the garage (including the cost of the freezer and new toolbox).

Consequently, I have a few items left over that are available (for free) to anyone that wants to come and take them. If they are still here in a month though, i'm just going to toss them in the garbage...

Extra Stuff )

Then we got a lot of yard work done this weekend. All the flower beds were weeded and finally planted with summer flowers (late for that I know, but we haven't been here to plant anything). I also got most of the flower pots on the deck planted so that they don't just look like a barren waste land. And you know... I had to till up the annual part of the flower bed before I could plant any new plants in it... :-) Then of course I had to cut and trim the lawn... funny thing about fertilizer and rain.... they make the grass grow really tall really quick. :-)

Plus lots of odds and ends projects that have been bugging me for a while that I finally got around to doing...

  • Replacing the builtin soap dispenser by the kitchen sink. It has always given you a bit of green goo along with your soap (something in the soap was corroding the metal in the dispenser?).
  • Installed hooks to hang the brooms and mops in the laundry room rather than just having them leaning up against something.
  • Finally got around to hanging that picture Sara bought to go above the fireplace.
  • Perhaps some other stuff that I can't think of right now.

Here I am sitting in the San Diego for the 6th hour waiting for the first leg of my journey back to the right coast (as opposed to the left coast where I am currently). Our flight was supposed to leave here at 11:50am but when we checked in it had been delayed an hour to 12:45pm.

We were waiting on a plane from St. Louis and it actually made it into the air and was supposed to only be an hour late. But apparently something else happened that they won't tell us. They diverted the flight to Palm Springs to refuel it and it was supposed to be here by 1:45 this time. Of course 1:45 came and went with no plan showing up. The next thing they told us was some passengers wanted to get off the plane after it had pulled away from the gate. The next thing we knew they changed the arrival time of the inbound flight to 6:45 and would only tell us that they had "some other issues". At this point they started to look for another plane and identified an inbound flight from Chicago that was supposed to stay here for the night and fly out again tomorrow morning. And of course this plane was late leaving Chicago.... At this point we are still waiting for this plane to arrive but it made it into the air so we think it should only be 30 minutes late meaning we can finally leave San Diego around 7:30 PST and make it to the Dallas hub around midnight.

They put us up in some hotel in Dallas for the night and graciously put us on the first flight out in the morning to RDU which leaves Dallas at 8:05am. After thinking about this, we were like eewww... we would have to get up really early for that... So I called the airline on the phone (as opposed to standing in the freakin really long line at the gate) and got the flight changed to 11:50am instead... Much better...

I think Sara really wanted it even later so she would have an excuse not to have to go to work tomorrow at all... but two whole days traveling would really suck...

Of course right now i'm really glad I have a laptop and a magical password generator that gets me onto the wifi access point at the hotel... Of course Cisco will get a bill from this... :-) but don't think they will say anything.
